Today (20 December 2018), Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, launched a book People come first: A Reflection on the 72nd UN General Assembly Session („Ľudia na prvom mieste – reflexia 72. zasadnutia Valného zhromaždenia OSN”) in which he sums up his one-year work in this important position. “After seventy-two years of the existence of the United Nations, the General Assembly was led by a Slovak diplomat – an opportunity that our country most likely will not have for another one hundred and fifty years. Therefore, I thought it would be suitable to map out the experience for future generations and share with other people what this work is about,” stated Minister Lajčák. He also emphasized how important multilateralism is in the world order, in which the UN plays a key role. The minister thanked his international team of thirty members with whom he had the pleasure to collaborate in New York. Four Slovaks were part of the team, and women comprised seventy percent. “It was the best team I have ever worked with. I would like to extend my thanks for their excellent work also this way,” said the head of Slovak diplomacy.
