Miroslav Lajčák Speaks at the Visegrad 4 Chief Diplomats Meeting

Today (November 2, 2019), Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic took part in the meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Visegrad Group which took place at the invitation of the Czech Presidency-in-Office, in Prague. In addition to the plans of the Czech presidency for the upcoming period, the ministers discussed some current issues of the European and international political arena, with the emphasis on the new institutional framework and enlargement of the European Union, Brexit, the situation in Ukraine, relations with Russia, the Eastern Partnership Project, and also issues related to defence cooperation in the context of the NATO, and NATO-EU relations. Minister Miroslav Lajčák acknowledged the continuity of the Czech presidency in the Visegrad Group with respect to the content of the programme and the results of the previous Slovak presidency. “The almost 30 years of cooperation of the Visegrad countries have been, for Slovakia, a firm point of reference for the neighbourhood and regional policies. The upcoming anniversaries, such as 20 years from the founding of the International Visegrad Fund, and, most importantly, the 30th anniversary of the Visegrad Group – will be further good opportunities to take stock and promote the political and practical dimensions of this cooperation,“ stated Minister Lajčák.
