Minister Lajčák Receives Japanese Ambassador

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák, received today (January 9, 2020) Juno Shimmi, Ambassador of Japan to the Slovak Republic on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in Slovakia. “The Japanese ambassador has significantly contributed to the development of mutual relations, having actively supported interpersonal contacts and cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, and science, culture and education,” noted the chief Slovak diplomat. He added, this year the two countries are going to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of relations, and Japan is a strategic and significant partner for Slovakia in Asia. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of relations, the Japanese Embassy in Slovakia has been planning a series of events which will start with an opening ceremony as early as Tuesday of next week. To conclude the meeting, Miroslav Lajčák awarded the Ambassador with the Golden Plaque of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic for his personal contribution to the strengthening and enhancement of bilateral relations between Slovakia and Japan.
