Minister Lajčák Attends Annual Session of the Global Future Council

Key issues concerning democratic governance in the conditions of the changing economic development in the global and regional context were among the topics of the annual session of the Global Future Council, which Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák attended in the United Arab Emirates on 3-4 November 2019. “This has really been a unique event – no formalities or official statements.  Close groups of experts for a given issue, brainstorming to find solutions, new ideas and attitudes.  The topics ranging from geopolitics to industrialization to climate change or artificial intelligence,” stated the chief Slovak diplomat after the meeting, which was held under the auspices of the President of the World Economic Forum Børge Brende. “The session this year in Dubai also focused on current European challenges and the preparation of the recommendations for the European Union,” underlined Minister Lajčák. “I’m honored that I can co-chair such a Council, namely the formation for Europe,” he stated. The meeting this year was attended by prominent representatives of governments as well as representatives of the business sector, academic circles and civic associations.
