The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs with New Leadership

Today (March 21, 2020), the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic was officially taken over by Richard Sulík, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic in the function of an alternate minister, together with the newly-appointed State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Martin Klus.

Upon the act of assuming the ministry’s leadership, they agreed that the priority in the upcoming days will be to provide assistance to those citizens of the Slovak Republic who are trying to return home from abroad and to the Slovak embassies in their effort to acquire needed medical supplies. Shortly after having taken office, the crisis staff  participated in a meeting led by Martin Klus. The meeting dealt with the current status of the repatriation of the Slovak citizens from abroad. Richard Sulík thanked the ex-minister Miroslav Lajčák for an exemplary hand-over of the ministry and expressed his appreciation for the ex-minister’s offer to provide assistance in the process of seeking solutions in the fight against the new coronavirus. Finally, he wished him every success in his subsequent diplomatic career.
