The Chief of Slovak Diplomacy Visits the Košice Region

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ivan Korčok, completed a working visit to the Košice Region on Friday 19 June 2020. “Visiting Košice and the surrounding region is my first domestic business trip as a minister. In this way, I want to emphasize that my ambition is to work, as a diplomat, for Slovakia and its citizens,” stressed the chief of Slovak diplomacy. As part of his program, Minister Korčok together with the Minister of Defense Jaroslav Naď visited the training center for pilots of the Slovak training academy. The head of Slovak diplomacy talked with the mayor of the East Slovak metropolis Jaroslav Polaček and other city officials about the city’s international projects, such as the European Capital of Culture (2013) and the European Capital of Volunteering (2019). He also visited the successful cultural centers Kasárne/Kulturpark (Barracks/CulturePark) and Kunsthalle (Arts Hall) with the ongoing Banksy & Poppy exhibition.

 

 

 

During his subsequent visit to T-Systems Slovakia, the Minister held talks with the management of this successful Košice company which is the second largest employer in the region. He also presented the outgoing CEO David Giebel with a gold plaque from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic for his significant contribution to the development of the IT sector and business based on corporate responsibility in the region.
