Slovakia to Become a Member of the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats

29.6.2020 | Aktivity ministra

On Monday 29 June 2020 Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korčok signed the confirmation of the agreement of the Slovak Republic for the membership in the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats in Helsinki, Finland.  “In Slovakia we also perceive that the threat to our security does not have to have a military form in the first instance, but more and more there are threats in the form of cyber-attacks, attempts at the manipulation of the public or the intentional spread of disinformation,” declared the head of Slovak diplomacy.

The strengthening of the resilience of the state against these threats is therefore, according to Minister Korčok, one of the priorities of the Slovak Government. The participation in the Centre of Excellence in Helsinki will enable Slovakia to draw from the experience of others who are subject to such attacks. “We will also be informed about the latest trends so that we can best reinforce our own resilience.  We are sending the notification to our Ambassador in Helsinki to submit it officially to our Finnish partners so that the process of our joining the Center of Excellence will be finalized,” concluded Korčok.
