Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, on behalf of the current Visegrad Group Presidency country, hosted his counterparts, foreign affairs ministers of the Czech Republic Tomáš Petříček, of Poland Jacek Czaputowicz, and of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.  “I’m pleased that we meet today in the format of the Visegrad Group alone, since there is a range of topics we can address together in a very concrete and constructive manner,” stated Minister Lajčák at the beginning of the press conference following the V4 ministerial meeting at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic. The talks were extremely substantive and very successful. The parties agreed on an exact division and the purpose of the use of the joint contribution of the V4 countries and the European Commission for the EU Trust Fund for Africa. They discussed the opportunity to establish a closer cooperation in addressing the causes and impacts of migration with Germany in the future. They also talked about the V4 + Eastern Partnership summit under preparation, which will be held in the spring 2019 on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of this group. The parties further discussed the interest in reinforcing the cooperation with these countries in a concrete way. In this context there was a strong joint support of all four ministers of the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the conflict with Russia, in line with the joint statements adopted by the EU and NATO. The meetings also revolved around the existing course of Slovakia’s V4 Presidency and the preparations of the events in the latter half of the year.
