29.6.2018 | Organizácia pre zákaz chemických zbraní | Vyhlásenia a stanoviská ministerstva

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic welcomes the results of the Fourth Special Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CSP) to the Chemical Weapons Convention that was held in the Hague on 26-27 June 2018. In their final decision the Conference adopted a milestone commitment to strengthen the mandate and capabilities of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) to deal with the threats related to the use of a chemical weapon. The adopted decision will contribute to a more efficient implementation of this Convention and adoption of necessary measures leading to the identifying of individuals suspected of using chemical weapons.  In this regard the Slovak Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs appreciates the highly professional and independent work of the OPCW Technical Secretariat and its expertise.

As a party to the Chemical Weapon Convention (CWC) and member of the OPCW, the Slovak Republic repeatedly and categorically condemns any use of chemical weapons and/or chemical substances as weapons anywhere, by anyone and under any circumstances. In this regard, we reaffirm our commitment, together with our partners and according to the adopted conclusions of the European Council of 28 June 2018, to fully support the execution of the conclusions of the Fourth Special Session of the CSP.
