On occasion of the 5th anniversary of the illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic declares that the Slovak Republic continues to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. We condemn the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol. We perceive the annexation to be a violation of international law and a threat to the security and stability of Europe. One result of this was the increased tension in the Kerch Strait and the Azov Sea in November 2018. Bilaterally and at the relevant international forums, the Slovak Republic will continue in its efforts geared towards the search for a peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
