State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Lukáš Parízek, received Vladimir Titov, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, within interdepartmental consultations today (23 January 2018). The consultations were aimed at attesting the interest in continuing the dialogue and evaluating the current state of play and prospects for developing the bilateral relations between the Slovak Republic and Russia. During the meeting, they discussed a wide spectrum of issues in terms of developing bilateral cooperation.

As they stated, cooperation is developing well in education, culture, sports and taking care for memorial places and cemeteries.  They positively appreciated the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, wrapped up by the official visit of Andrej Danko, Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, to Russia in November.

In economic issues both sides appreciated last year’s balance of mutual trade, the stable character of cooperation in energy with the focus on providing for problem-free transit of oil and gas through the Slovak Republic, and confirmed their interest in realizing the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Russia already this year.  They paid special attention to the upcoming Slovakia's Chairmanship of the OSCE and its priorities.

They exchanged views on current developments in the world and paid attention to resolving regional crises requiring a coordinated approach, also within the OSCE.
