Veľvyslankyňa Denisa Frelichová navštívila Aulestad, domov Karoline a Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsonových. Návštevu uskutočnila v sprievode spisovateľa a prekladateľa Milana Richtera, režiséra Michala Spišiaka a producenta Ľuba Menzela, ktorí pripravujú divadelné predstavenie novej hry Milana Richtera venovanej životu a dielu Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsona.

Návšteva Aulestadu a príprava novej divadelnej hry prispeli k ďalšiemu prehĺbeniu vzťahov Slovenska s Nórskom.

Personal meeting with Marit Bjørnson Barkbu, greatgranddaughter of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was a unique and much appreciated highlight of the visit. She maintains close ties with Slovakia and with unrelentless enthusiasm supports and deepens the friendship between Slovakia and Norway. Marit visits Slovakia several times. A captivating story-teller, Marit introduced her great grandfather also from a different angle: not just as a great writer, playwright, poet, political activist for social and political rights of small antions and dedicated advocate of the Slovaks, but also as a father, husband and a family man. Special appreciation to Bente Forberg and Irene Tjørve for guiding us through Aulestad and showed us the life of Karoline a Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson in a truly engaging and attractive manner. Aulestad is filled with beautiful artwork, decorated with unique taste and elegance, eventhough it started off as a farm that fully covered the nutrintional needs of the family. Gorgeous hand crocheted tablecloth is particularly notable as it was a gift from Slovak women who thus wanted to express their respect and appreciation for the influential political activism of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and his relentless advocacy for the rights of the Slovak people and raising international awareness of their oppression, especially after the tragic events in Černová in 1907. The visit to Aulestand and a new theater play dedicated to Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson contributed further to deepening the ties between Slovakia and norway. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson has represented a firm connecting line between the two nations for over 110 years. Ambassador Denisa Frelichová visited Aulestad, home of Karoline and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, along with playwright and poet Milan Richter, theater director Michal Spišiak and producer Ľubo Menzel who are working on a new theater play dedicated to the live and work of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.

The Slovaks will never forget his contribution to full realisation of their right for self-determination, especially this year as we celebrate 100 years of the founding of First Czecho-Slovak Republic.

Bratislava (28 November) – Slovakia and Norway signed the Memorandums of Understanding on implementing the European Economic Area (EEA) Financial Mechanism and Norwegian Financial Mechanism in Bratislava today. The documents were signed by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák on behalf of Slovakia, and by EEA and European Affairs Minister of the Kingdom of Norway Elisabeth Vik Aspaker. This will enable Slovakia to draw the EEA and the so-called Norwegian funds in the amount of €113 million by 2021, a substantially higher sum than in the previous period. “Slovakia has traditionally led among the 16 recipient countries in the negotiations on concluding memorandums on financial mechanisms. This year we have become the second to have signed the interest to draw the funds provided by Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein,” said Minister Lajčák.
