Publikované 17.08.2022

Visa is not required for Canadian passport holders intending to stay in the Slovak Republic for up to 90 days. They may travel to Slovakia with a Canadian passport only, which must be valid at least 3 months after the intended final departure from Slovakia.

At the entry foreigners may be asked by the officials to provide a proof of sufficient financial resources (cash or standard bank document) to cover expenses related to his/her stay in the Slovak Republic (56 EUR – approx. 80 CAD per person per day) as well as return flight ticket (or flight reservation) or sufficient resources to buy it. Foreigners may demonstrate sufficient funds by means of cash, bank account statement, a voucher, or any other record of paid expenses. Bankcards, including credit cards, are not accepted for this purpose.

At the same time, every foreigner may be asked to declare his/her travel health insurance coverage during his/her stay in Slovakia. Canadians staying in Slovakia have an obligation to register their stay at the local Border Police within 3 working days after their arrival in Slovakia if their stay in the Slovak Republic exceeds thirty days. Personal registration is not required in case of stay at an accommodation facility (hotels, motels, etc.), where the registration is carried out by its staff directly.

In an effort to prevent international child abduction, at entry points officials may ask visitors to present comprehend evidence of relationship and permission for the child’s travel from the parents or a legal guardian if not present. Having such documentation, even if not required, may facilitate entry.
