Slovakia Introduces Free Movement for Citizens and an Unlimited Border Regime with 19 European Countries. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Calls for Caution and Continues to Recommend not to Travel to the Rest of The World

10.6.2020 | Oznamy a upozornenia pred cestovaním | Koronavírus 2019-nCoV

Following the measure of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic (ÚVZ SR No. OLP/4739/2020), of 10 June 2020, the Slovak Republic has lifted measures at border crossings for persons returning from Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Croatia, Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Malta, Germany, Norway, Austria, Slovenia and Switzerland. When returning from these 19 countries, citizens neither have to go to home isolation nor have to present a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic recommends to citizens who are in the territory of these countries to pay increased attention (a 1st degree warning applies) and continuously monitor the measures introduced by the states concerning epidemiology, quarantine, security and transport. Information on the border regime is published and regularly updated on the web site of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.

Individuals with a permanent or temporary residence in the Slovak Republic are exempted from quarantine and the obligation to submit a negative RT-PCR test for COVID-19 on their return from Poland, if their stay outside the territory of the Slovak Republic does not exceed 48 hours. In relation to Poland, the recommendation to consider the necessity to travel also continues to apply.

Upon arrival from anywhere other than the 19 states designated by the measure of the Public Health Authority (ÚVZ SR no. 4739/2020), it is necessary to present a negative test on COVID-19, not older than 96 hours, to a member of the Police Force of the Slovak Republic. After entering the territory of Slovakia through border crossings where no checks are carried out, it is necessary to immediately submit a negative test result to the relevant regional Public Health Office.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic recommends that all citizens located abroad take the opportunity and use the option of voluntary registration at the web site of The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic or via the Svetobežka mobile application.

In case of emergency, citizens of the Slovak Republic can contact the embassy of the Slovak Republic accredited to the specific state in which the citizen is located or the Consular Information Center/Diplomatic Service of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (02 5978 5978).

The recommendation not to travel continues to apply to all other countries in the world.
