Opening of the Photo Exhibition “Water Action Decade – Countries´ Perspectives”

13 UN Member States, including Slovakia, organized on the occasion of launching the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018 – 2028 a joint photo exhibition on water, which was opened at the UN Headquarters in New York on 23 March 2018 by the President of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, Mr. M. Lajčák. In his speech, he highlighted the key role of water for people and our Planet. 

 

Impressive photos present water not only through natural sceneries of rivers, lakes, oceans, but also as a way of surviving in countries with scarcities, or as natural disasters caused by water. Pictures made by well-known Slovak photographer Mr. Filip Kulišev represent the Slovak Republic. The exhibition will run till the end of March.

 

The International Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018 – 2028 was launched on 22 March (on the World Water Day) during the high-level event organized under the auspices of the President of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. The objective of the New Water Decade has been to promote activities and projects focused on water, including the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals related to water, in particular through promoting development cooperation, financial support and strengthening partnerships at all levels.
