The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in The Hague represents the Slovak Republic in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It protects the interests of the Slovak Republic and its citizens. It supports development of official bilateral contacts, cooperation between the parliaments and ministries, economic and trade cooperation, as well as contacts in the area of culture, science, education, sports and tourism.
The Hague is a seat of multiple international organisations and institutions, which brings also the dimension of multilateral agenda to foreign policy. Therefore, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic represents Slovakia in the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), actively cooperates with the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM). The Embassy also cooperates with the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), The Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) and many others. The Netherlands is also a seat of three EU agencies: Eurojust, Europol and European Medicine Agency (EMA).
The membership of both the Slovak Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the EU, NATO, OECD, and in the eurozone reflects also in intensive economic and trade cooperation. The role of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in The Hague, given its goals in the economic diplomacy, is to support the growth of Dutch investments in the Slovak Republic, further expansion of Slovak exports to the Netherlands and overall support of trade cooperation among businesses and start-ups. The Embassy closely cooperates with the Czech-Slovak Dutch Chamber of Commerce in order to achieve these goals.
The Embassy is also active in protection of interests of Slovak citizens and provides assistance and services for the Slovak community living and working in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Embassy provides a number of consular services and consular assistance for the Slovak citizens in need. There are also two honorary consulates of the Slovak Republic in the Netherlands: in Groningen and Eindhoven.
The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in The Hague considers culture and public diplomacy as an important tool for enhancing closer relations between countries and mutual friendly relations among peoples. Therefore, the Embassy is active in public presentation of the Slovak Republic around the Netherlands.
