Lajčák Receives Russian Ambassador Fedotov

Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, received today (25 January 2019) the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Slovak Republic Alexey Fedotov.  Both representatives appreciated the current state of bilateral cooperation with the emphasis on trade, the economic sphere and people-to-people contacts. The core part of their talks was devoted to the Slovakia’s Chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Lajčák told the Ambassador about his recent visits to Ukraine and Moldova in the context of the planned journey to Moscow as the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office,  that is planned for the second half of February. He also attested to the interest of the Slovak Republic in reinforcing the role of the OSCE in searching for solutions to the conflicts in the former USSR, in preventing new areas of tensions, and in improving the living conditions of civilians affected by the conflicts. I believe that the Russian Federation, as an important member country of the organization, will contribute to meeting these goals," stated Minister Lajčák. He also thanked Ambassador Fedotov for supporting the efforts of the Slovak Chairmanship in preparing the 2019 budget and assured him that the Slovak Republic is ready to move forward in the talks on the ranges of the contributions.
