Residence of Foreigners in Territory of Slovakia

Applicants for temporary residence (stay over 90 days) and permanent residence can choose, if they apply for temporary/permanent residence at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Delhi or if they apply for National D Visa for the purpose of submitting the application for temporary/permanent residence in Slovakia.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Delhi announces the priority allocation of appointments for submitting applications in accordance with valid regulations of the Government of the Slovak Republic (383/2023, 113/2023, 521/2021, 269/2022 and others) on the interest of the Slovak Republic. Embassy will allocate the number of dates for a given month that will correspond to the current capacities with regard to accepting priority applications in the interest of the Slovak Republic.

The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Delhi further announces that until further notice it is suspending the monthly regular online appointments for submitting applications for National D visas for employment purposes for jobs without qualifications, low-skilled and medium-skilled jobs. The opening of online dates will be announced at irregular intervals a day in advance without a fixed exact opening time of the dates.

Other purposes of National D visa applications will be ordered by email, always on the first working day of the new month.

Appointments for all other purposes of National D visa will remain by email only at cons.delhi@mzv.sk. Reservation for National D visa for all other purposes for June 2024 will be opened on 2 April 2024. Following appointments for following month will be opened every first work day in the month.

Each email must contain following information about applicant –

  • name, surname, date of birth
  • passport number
  • and must clearly request category of the application with the attached scan copy of the main document, which confirms the purpose of the stay in Slovakia e.g. marriage certificate, scholarship letter, acceptance letter, work promise for the highly qualified employee etc.

Emails without requested datas and scan copy of the main document will not be accepted and will be deleted automatically.

Due to the technical reasons do not scan additional documents, only the document confirming the purpose of stay in Slovakia.

Important notice: Applicants need to submit original documents for the application for temporary residence, which are submitted within the application for a National D visa. Documents for temporary residence permit must be valid (not older than 90 days) on the day of submitting the application for temporary residence in the Slovak Republic.



Appointments for applications for temporary and permanent residence

Appointments for applications for permanent and temporary residence for the purpose of employment of highly qualified employees, ICT, business, family reunion, special activitiy etc. for June 2024 can be requested from 2 April 2024 by email at cons.delhi@mzv.sk. Each email request must contain following information about applicant – name, surname, passport number and must clearly request the category of the application with the attached scan copy of the main document, which confirms the purpose of the stay in Slovakia (e.g. marriage certificate, job offer etc.) or clearly written future employer company name with the name of the positions and numeric code of the position. Applications without requested information will not be accepted and will be automatically deleted.

Appointments for permanent residence and temporary residence permit for July 2024 can be requested from 2 May 2024.

Requests by the Slovak relocation, personal employment agencies and all authorized persons and companies for appointments for temporary residence for more than one applicant (together with his/her family) will not be accepted.

Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi requests the agencies to not send lists of applicants who do not belong to one family unit.

If the slots for whole month are fully booked, new applications will not be accepted and emails will be deleted after informing the applicants. For the capacity reasons Embassy will not accept any requests for exchanging of applicants for the appointments.


Applicants for National D visa with already granted residence permit apply in person at the Embassy Monday to Thursday between 14.00 and 15.00 hours. The decision from the Foreign Police in the Slovak Republic must be submitted, or copy of the text message. There is no need to fix the appointment for this application.

List of the supporting documents and further instructions for this type of application


Application for superlegalisation of the documents will be in 2023 accepted only on Mondays and Tuesdays (except of Slovak National Holidays or Indian Bank Holidays) between 14.00 and 15.00 hours. One authorised person can submit maximum 1 application at once. Kindly note that superlegalization is not done on the same day.


KINDLY NOTE

We confirm that all the appointments for National D visa – for all categories are fully booked until the end of May 2024. The appointments for the temporary residence permit for all categories are fully booked until the end of May 2024. Once the appointments are taken the Consular Department is not booking any more appointments due to capacity reasons.

KINDLY NOTE

Application for National D Visa for the purpose of submission of the temporary/permanent residence permit application in the Slovak Republic has to submitted at least 30 days before intended day of travel to Slovak Republic – all the mandatory documents have to be valid after arrival to Slovakia.
​​​​​​​If the applicant is not able to submit complete set of the mandatory documents on the day of application for National D visa, application cannot be accepted and Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi will provide applicant with written information about missing documents.

Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi will decide upon the application within 30 days after it has been submitted. National D visa cannot be issued without prior permission of Central Visa Bureau of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.

KINDLY NOTE

Applicant is fully responsible for preparing his/her application according to standards required by the Act on residence of Aliens N. 404/2011 Z. z. of the Slovak Republic. Therefore it is suggested to consult application with the future employer or receiving institution (university, NGO), Foreign Police etc.

Requests for documentation check by e-mail or phone prior to submission will not be attended to.

General information on mandatory documents for application for National D visa

  • valid passport
  • 2 current colour photographs (white background) 3 x 3,5 cm
  • medical travel insurance valid for 90 days (starting the intended day of travel)
  • documents required for the temporary/permanent residence application in Slovakia; complete set of valid documents plus complete set of photocopies are mandatory
  • proof of accommodation valid for 90 day (starting the intended day of travel)
  • documents confirming sufficiency of the financial resources for covering costs of the stay for 90 days
  • air ticket reservation for the travel to Slovakia

 

KINDLY NOTE

Citizens of India have to provide Police Clearance Certificate issued by Regional Passport Office and apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. This document is mandatory.

Citizens of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka – documents must be legalised by respectful Ministries of Foreign Affairs and superlegalised by Embassy of the Slovak Republic in New Delhi prior to any other action (copy, translation etc).

All the documents have to be translated by official translator from the list of the official translators registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic. There is no official translator to Slovak language registered in India.

Application fee for National D Visa for the purpose of submitting the application for temporary/permanent residence in Slovakia is equivalent of 33 EUR in Indian Rupees (according to monthly exchange rate – exact information is provided on the date of application).

Collection of fingerprints requires physical presence of every applicant.

Citizens of third countries with valid Schengen visa travelling to Slovak Republic cannot submit their application for the temporary or permanent residence at the Foreign Police in Slovak Republic.
