It is with concern that I observe the current intentions to negotiate the potential membership of Kosovo in the Council of Europe, especially with regard to the outcomes from the session of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe today (27 March 2024).
On the occasion of International Women's Day (8 March 2024), the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic emphasised the importance and irreplaceable role of women in Slovak diplomacy. The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, believes it is important to create fair and equal conditions, room for self-realisation and opportunities for women to successfully represent the Slovak Republic at home and abroad.
Based on current information, the Dutch side, which previously did not have sufficient information about the planned event – where the internal political situation in Slovakia was to be discussed at the Dutch Embassy in Prague with the participation of ambassadors of EU member states but without the Slovak ambassador to the Czech Republic being invited – decided to cancel the event on its embassy premises in the Czech Republic.
